About Me

My name is Eng. Nantayi Gorrette, and my journey in the renewable energy sector has been one of passion, perseverance, and continuous learning. It all began in 2019, shortly after I had completed my  Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Ndejje University in October 2018. Eager to specialize in renewable energy, I joined SENDEA Academy, a decision that marked a significant turning point in my career. Through the academy’s support, I was awarded a scholarship that enabled me to undertake a Stand-Alone Home Solar PV Installations course at Nakawa Vocational Training Institute. This 6weeks training combined both theoretical and practical learning, equipping me with essential skills in solar system sizing, battery installation, and overall solar system integration.

My journey with SENDEA Academy did not stop there. In 2022, another incredible opportunity came my way through SENDEA Academy by the International Solar Alliance (ISA), I was awarded a scholarship to pursue a Master’s of Technology in Renewable Energy Technologies and Management at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD), India’s second-best university. This master’s program broadened my perspective on the energy sector, not just in Uganda and Africa but also globally. Throughout my studies, I acquired key skills in energy assessments, economics, and financing of renewable energy projects, further

strengthening my expertise in the field. Successfully completing my program in August 2024 was a proud milestone, marking my readiness to contribute even more significantly to the renewable energy sector.

Currently, I serve as an Associate Officer, Technical, at the National Renewable Energy Platform, a firm under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, based at Amber House, Kampala. In this role, I am actively involved in shaping policies, implementing projects, and contributing to the growth of sustainable energy solutions in Uganda. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support and guidance of SENDEA Academy, especially Ms. Loy Florence Kyozaire, the Chief Executive Officer of SENDEA. Her mentorship and dedication to empowering young professionals like me have played a crucial role in my journey. I extend my deepest gratitude to SENDEA Academy for opening doors not just for me but for many others pursuing careers in renewable energy. As I look ahead, my mission remains clear to drive the transition towards sustainable energy solutions and contribute to a brighter, greener future for Uganda  and beyond.
